A student took Sodium Sulphate and add Barium Chloride, find color and formula?

As we know that when we combine two chemicals then chemical reaction takes place. So in this post we will discuss a problem, based on this phenomenon of chemical reaction.

Given below is the question which has asked in CBSE class 10 sample paper term 1. So here we will not only find the solution of this question. But also figure out the reason and discuss them in detail. So let’s start.

Q. A student took Sodium Sulphate solution in a test tube and added Barium Chloride solution to it. He observed that an insoluble substance has formed. The colour and molecular formula of the insoluble substance is :

(a) Grey, Ba2SO4

(b) Yellow, Ba(SO4

(c) White, BaSO4

(d) Pink, BaSO4

Solution :-

When we add one and more than one compound then a chemical reaction takes place and forms a new substance.

Those substance or compound which are added before chemical reaction known as Reactant.

Those substance or compound which are formed after chemical reaction known as Product.

Now,

Here in our case,

A student take sodium sulphate compound in a test tube and add it to barium chloride. By doing so, a chemical reaction takes place.

Here are the chemical reaction in compound format.

NaSO4 + BaCl2 = BaSO4 + NaCl

In the above reaction, Sodium sulphate and Barium chloride mix together in a test tube. After mixing Barium sulphate and Sodium chloride are formed.

Here, Sodium sulphate and Barium chloride are reactant. And Barium sulphate and Sodium chloride are product.

After the reaction over a white precipitate are formed in a chemical reaction.

Hence, option C is right. Because when A student took Sodium Sulphate solution in a test tube and added Barium Chloride solution to it. He observed that an insoluble substance has formed. The colour of the insoluble substance is white and molecular formula is BaSO4.
