Magnetic effect of electric current class 10 notes

Magnetic effect of electric current class 10 notes, cbse class 10 science magnetic effect of electric current full chapter notes explain in full detail and easy language. here is the collection of topic Magnet, Magnetic field, Magnetic field lines, Direction of Magnetic field, Magnetic field due to a current carrying conductor, Magnetic field due to infinity long conductor and much more.

Magnetic effect of electric current class 10 notes

what is magnet?

  • It is the substance which have the property of attracting small peace of Iron, Nickle or cobalt etc. are called magnet. and this property of attraction is called Magnetism.
  • Magnets are found naturally in certain natural rocks and can also be made artificial by certain method.
  • Artificially made permanent magnet are made in various shapes like Bar magnet, Disk, Horse shoe ring.
  • Permanent magnet are two pole North pole and south pole.
  • North pole and South pole are denoted by capital letter 'N' and 'S'.

Magnetic pole:-

it is the are of the magnet where the magnetic effect are strong.

Properties of Magnet

  • Magnet apply force on iron filling, Nickle filling etc.
  • Magnet apply force on each other.
  • Like pole repel each other and unlike pole attract each other.
  • The attraction is the maximum at the end of the magnet.

Magnetic Field:-

It is the reason or area around a magnet where force of magnet can be experienced is said to be magnetic field.

Magnetic field lines:-

  • It is the imaginary lines, used to show the magnetic field in a given reason.
  • It is closed continuous curved which is directed from North pole to south pole.
  • Magnetic field lines never each other or do not intersect each other, because we know that direction of magnetic field towards outward is North to South but if the magnetic field intersect each other then they have two direction which is not possible at any cost.
  • Magnetic field has vector quantity.

Direction of Magnetic field:-

Magnetic effect of electric current class 10 notes

Towards outwards

North to south

Towards inwards
  • South to North
  • maximum field lines near the pole shows the strength of magnet.
  • If more crowed then magnetic field more powerful at that point or vice - versa.

Magnetic field due to current carrying conductor

Magnetic effect of electric current class 10 notes

  • A current carrying straight conductor has magnetic field in the form of concentric circle around it, and it shows by magnetic field lines.
  • If a current in a conductor will increase, then magnetic field also increases.
B ∝ I
  • If length of conductor, then magnetic field will also increases.
B ∝ L
  • If distance from the conductor increases then magnetic field decreases.
B ∝ 1/ R

Now from all equations we get,

B ∝ IL / R

Unit of Magnetic field:-

B ∝ I L / R
When current is measure in Ampere, distance is in 'm'. then magnetic field is measure in Tesla 'T'.
or
  • S.I unit of magnetic field is Tesla ' T '.
  • Smaller unit of magnetic field is gauss 'G'.
