Why we use different type of units to represent concentration?

Why we use different type of units to represent concentration of solution not just one?

Concentration is a measuring unit of how much a solute can be dissolved in a given solvent or solution. In other words higher the concentration, lower will be the solute dissolve and lower the concentration, higher will be the solute can be dissolved.
On the other hand we can say if a solution has more solute particles than solvent one then the concentration of that solution is high. In short concentration is directly proportional to the solute particles.
The reason behind to use different types of units to represent concentration is that a solution can be represent with different cases. Such as with pressure, volume, weight etc. So we use Molarity, Molality, Mole fraction etc to represent concentration not just one.
For example:-
Case 1:- If the solution has a solvent of 1 litre or 1000 ml then the unit of concentration will be in Molarity.
Case 2:- If the solution has a solvent of 1kg or 1000g then the unit of concentration will be in Molality.
There are many types of concentration:-
  • Concentration of a substance cen be represent by Molarity.
  • Concentration of a substance cen be represent by Molality.
  • Concentration of a substance cen be represent by Normality.
  • Concentration of a substance cen be represent by Mole fraction
  • Concentration of a substance cen be represent by Mass percentage.
So, we use different type of units to represent concentration.
